Really last year there was NO doubt who was #1......#2 came by process of elimination. OK state loosing......and so on.
I have, and will continue to say that Alabama was the right choice for the BCSNCG against LSU. One can argue "they didn't win their conference/division, but that isn't a requirement. Arguing against Alabama in that game is like arguing against LSU in 2007. They had one loss, just like everyone else. But they were clearly the best one loss team, just like LSU was the best 2 loss team in 2007. And they proved it in the 'Dome, just like LSU did in 2007.
I agree with Stacey. I felt there was still doubt after that game. I know dam well I worried about the thought of possibly meeting them again, as did 99% of our fans. I didn't think there was any outright domination in that game that would lead anyone to be able to say one team was superior. Shew, even immediately following the game Bama players were saying they felt they were the better team. I agree completely. I don't like having to admit to some of that but surely can't disagree with it either.
I agree Bama's schedule is easier than LSUs, but they didn't choose it to be. Nobody chose it to be. It just so happens that it's their turn to play Missouri and our turn to play SCe, and as far as permanent opponents, it is what it is. There's been years when Tennessee was better than UF. Michigan was supposed to be good, and our OOC against Washington is similar. That said, I'm so close to yelling Hotty Toddy I need to take a break!
That's the thing though, I understand the argument about playing a weak schedule, but they destroy the cupcakes like they are supposed to, and to be fair, we have too. That Auburn game meant a whole hell of alot to the fake Tigers. They had never gotten beat 3 times before October in the schools history, they heard all week about how LSU was going to kill them, JC Copeland opened his mouth gave them extra fuel, and it was our quarterback's first SEC road game, at a hard place for LSU to play traditionally, and the crowd was amped. All it took was one tiny little thing for them to cheer about and that place goes nuts. All in all, it wasn't Auburn playing lights out, it was LSU making mistakes, and letting the crowd and the turnovers effect them offensively, coaches and players.
One might be inclined to say their D stepped up quite a bit. Im just curious how they do here on out.
