David Jenkins would probably start at CB on 90% of NCAA D1 teams this season, but won't on this team. That's how STAAAACCCCKKKKED this secondary is! Probably the best safety trio in the country. Simon is good, but still not 'great' in coverage. Luckily, he's long and rangy, and makes up for some mistakes.
Miles added another TD from Lee to the stats. Also added that Shep and Randall each had 5 catches. Ford led all RBs. Article also has some quotes: Football Scrimmages for First Time - LSUsports.net - The Official Web Site of LSU Tigers Athletics
I have heard mixed reviews on Ford and some are the same things I was hearing last year. Some days he has great production and others he seems lost at times. Given that he is better than he was last year and and will get plenty of touches this year. We can't count out Blue again, however.
I'd think another of Ford's issues is that he doesn't seem to be an up the middle runner. He does well on option sweeps and runs to the outside, but he doesn't seem to do as well between the tackles. I think that may not appeal to Miles, but I'd like to see him used a bunch.
True and that is why he loves Gore and even Blue and Magee. Gore is very instinctive in the middle and actually loves running up the gut. But at his size and the speed he has you would think he is more of a sideline to sideline runner which he can also do.
