Here's the link for other newspaper posters from the advocate in Baton Rouge: http://www.theadvocatemarketing.com/
A few years ago I went to the Advocates office and bought a several months old paper in order to settle a bet so I know that they keeps some copies of past issues to sell to whoever wants to buy them. I don't know if they keep copies as old as from 1958 for sale to the public but surely it would be in their archives.
When I did some research in Middleton using old Advocates all they had was film. But with the film, they could reproduce the 1958 page.
I agree, they CAN do it. It's a matter of time-consuming digging. I hope they do it, they're sitting on a goldmine.
Finding the microfiche would take no more than five minutes. Reproducing the paper would probably wouldn't take more than an hour if they have a PhotoShop expert.
I think this is what you are looking for: The Advocate Front Page - Framed - 1958 Champions Really awesome idea!
That's the article on the bowl game. Back then the MNC was awarded prior to the bowl games. I wonder if there's another page with an article on the MNC itself.
In those days there was the Morning Advocate and the evening paper was the State Times. They later merged into The Advocate.
