He may not play a down next year, but the guy that comes to mind is Jarrett Lee. The guy has been resilient and a fighter, and stuck it out here when the conventional wisdom said he would be better off leaving. Seems to me he's put the letters on the side of the helmet ahead of the name on the back of jersey.
I vote for Jarrett Lee assuming he is here next year. He may never play a down but he would be my vote.
I don't think Lee will be here. When Les didn't put him in the game late to run a drive after it was already decided, I think Lee knows that he will never see any meaningful PT again. Unless that was all on Crowton, I don't think Lee has any reason to stick around when he can be starting at a FCS school for his senior year.
Great thread. I think if Lee stays, he ABSOLUTELY deserves to wear the 18 jersey. If not, I'd go with Shep. He's done everything that we've asked him to do, he's never complained not once. The way he recruited for us before he came to campus and the way he talks about the team, Russell Shepard is the epitome of a team player.
