Jordan Spieth shot 68, 69 to comfortably make the cut at the Nelson. Didn't get to see him play but watched his interview on the Golf Channel after he played. I was impressed by how composed he was and how polite and articulate he was. Very polished for a 16 year old. They just interviewed him on ESPN and he appears to be very well at ease with the media. Young man has a bright future.
-4 for the day thru 16 and on the front page of the leaderboard. The downside is he'll have to talk to Peter Kostis after his round. opcorn:
Got it all the way to -7 and on the first page of the leaderboard (tied for 4th) before bogeying the 17th. Unreal to watch a 16 year old compete with these professionals.
does he become a Tiger now, or a Tadd Fujikawa or a Matt Kuchar? Kid needs to do himself a favor and go to college and learn to win imo.
He accepted a scholarship to UT. He's the #1 ranked amateur in the country so I think he will stack up well against the college competition. The only negative I saw Sunday is after hitting some bad shots he looks like he has a short fuse. Of course we know a pretty fair golfer who has a short fuse. He's playing in the tournament in Memphis in a couple of weeks so let's see how he plays there. Haven't heard if he qualified for the Open.
