SS and medicare are entrenched and SS is not really an entitlment to those of us who paid into it for 40 years. You can't just cut those. What you can do is quit offering new entitlements such as the alleged free healthcare that everyone knows is a crock. Free to the same bums who have been sucking on the gov't teat for decades maybe. Also, things like cap and trade are unworkable, unneeded and a surefire drain on the economy and an addition to the deficit.

Tell that to the millions who can't get a job and ask them whose fault it is.

My response was the Sarcozy quote.

The quote is still true and it wasn't removed at 9:00 this morniong.

You continued failure to understand what an entitlement is sad, I've explained it before. It has nothing at all to do with what you are entitled to. An entitlement merely means an expenditure that is required by law.

Then explain why and be specific. Cap and Trade worked to rid us of sulphur emissions that were causing acid rain. It did not drain the economy, it did not hurt business, it helped business modernize. Cap and Trade to reduce carbon emissions will work the same way. Why do you advocate pollution? You're not going to answer, are you? I don't blame you.

Your ignorance of the definition of a recession is not my problem, either.

Is it true? Why isn't anyone on the record with it? Sarcozy has denied saying it. It is a statement that has been attributed to him by some reporters. There ain't such a Sarcozy quote on the record, its just another smear campaign.

    Find that link yet?

This is true. In the 80's and early 90's I worked for Big Cajun 2, a coal fired power plant. After I left, they had a big pollution control upgrade project. Didn't add anything to their charges for power, and added 5 permanent jobs. These upgrades were mainly new control systems to existing equipment.

The plant didn't shut down, and no one lost their job. And they only did it because they were required to by the new laws.

No they ain't. Unlike entitlements, which the government is legally obligated to fund, earmarks are added to bills simply to bring home pork to Mama. They are entirely optional and usually a waste of taxpayer money.

This is correct. Earmarks can be worked into bills and never actually be funded. Entitlements are required to be funded.
