Why don't NFL refs check game balls to ensure they conform to league standards mush like baseball umps periodically check the conditions of baseballs during MLB games? To me, this is more of a failure of NFL policies and procedures than it is of "cheating". Could this simply be that the balls were inflated in a warm locker room to the minimum spec then brought outside where temps were 60 degrees or more colder? The refs should keep a pool of 5 or so balls on each sideline that they keep inflated and have someone check at the start of each quarter that they are still properly inflated. That way, they can ensure there is no competative advantage for either team. Otherwise they are letting the foxes gurad the henhouse.

They do but somehow one of Belicheats minions was trained to intercept them and deflate them right before the game. This is the first year so they will be changing the process im sure.
....but just to review....Saints are accused of paying players to hurt opponents, and despite the lack of any evidence that anyone actually got paid or got hurt, the NFL drops a virtual season-long death penalty. Now, we have a second example of the Patriots cheating in the post-season, and they have the evidence; no question....will the punishment be comparable?
