11-1 LSU vs 12-1 Auburn for the BCS Title Game, is it possible?

    Uh, in a word, yeah.

I tried to project a scenario that is somewhat realistic. So here goes.

LSU of course wins out, very impressively vs both Ole Miss and Arkansas.
Auburn loses to Alabama and then wins the SEC title vs South Carolina.
Oregon loses one of it's last 2 games, does not matter which.
Stanford wins out (they have Cal and Oregon State left).
Nebraska wins out (they have Texas A&M, Colorado, Big 12 CG).
Wisconsin loses to Michigan (this may not be mandatory, but is definitely very helpful).
Ohio State loses to Iowa. A few more votes go LSU's way towards closing the gap vs Boise State/TCU (again, not mandatory).
Boise State barely beats Nevada 56-55 in double overtime (Pollsters won't be impressed) and struggles to beat Fresno State as well.

TCU will be nailed to the wall by the computer polls after playing a 1-9 New Mexico team to end the season.

    Final Computer Poll Projections
    Auburn............ 1.000
    LSU.................. .950
    Nebraska........... .880
    Oregon.............. .830
    Stanford............ .810
    Boise State........ .800
    TCU.................. .800
    Alabama............ .790

LSU, in this scenario, just needs to trim 40 % of the deficit in the human polls between themselves and Boise State/TCU (who are virtually tied in the polls as it stands now).

Wisconsin losing allows LSU to roughly cut half of that 40 % deficit.

LSU's impressive wins along with Boise State and TCU (they play a 1-9 New Mexico) unimpressive end to their seasons, allows LSU to get the necessary votes to overtake both teams in the BCS standings.

Final Computer Polls could look like this (Coaches Poll as an example with corresponding BCS computation):
    1. Boise State (27). 1415 .9593
    2. Auburn..(11)...... 1377 .9336
    3. TCU..(15).......... 1368 .9275
    4. LSU.................. 1305 .8848
    5. Oregon...(2)....... 1258 .8529
    6. Nebraska.(3)...... 1253 .8495
    7. Stanford..(1)...... 1201 .8142
    8. Alabama............. 1058 .7207

    Final BCS Standings
    1. Auburn.......... .9557
    2. LSU............... .9065
    3. Boise State..... .9062
    4. TCU............... .8850
    5. Nebraska........ .8597
    6. Oregon........... .8453
    7. Stanford......... .8128
    8. Alabama......... .7438

In this case, the voters aren't voting for an all SEC match in the title game, but the voting for LSU was supported just enough for the computer polls to alter the final BCS rankings.

To sum up what is desired for an Auburn/LSU BCS CG:
    1. LSU win out
    2. Auburn lose to Bama, beats SC
    3. Oregon lose either of it's last 2 games, but not both
    4. Nebraska win out
    5. Stanford win out
    6. Wisconsin lose to Michigan
    7. Ohio State lose to Iowa or Michigan

No...it's not just like like a few years ago when they were talking about a possible rematch between USC and Michigan for the title game, the rest of the country does not want to see that, and would not let that happen. As much as I want LSU to have a title shot I do not think a rematch is the way to do it.

    You're not paying attention.

The voters will NOT vote LSU and Auburn into the BCS title game.

The Computer Polls could, however. Nothing for the voters to do.

Islstl.....I am paying attention.....the computers are only 1/3 of the total equation.....what would happen is the other 2/3 the human voters would put lsu low enough so that it would not happen. Fair or not...thats what the human interests do...or thats what they did the year of the talk of the big usc/michigan rematch talk.

The problem with this comparison is that Ohio State and Michigan played each other as the last game of the year. LSU and Auburn played in the middle of the season so it's not on everyone's minds as much.

Hey hey hey, take it easy.
You know it is very possible this situation could play out, we are talking about college football and the BCS now.
First off I think Oregon State could beat Oregon, big rivalry game it could easily happen.
Second thing, Boise could very well lose to Nevada as well. Nevada is a good team with a mature athletic quarterback.
TCU I don't see them losing they have one really easy game left right?
But again we could easily jump TCU if the Tigers handle business agaisnt arkansas and ole miss. Arkansas is a top 15 team, and a win would boost our BCS rating.
    I wouldn't count anything out!
