Yeah, look at all that love for the Dinardo era! All those guys were LSU superstars. Kevin Faulk should be on everybody's Top 10. The guy was superman. But, regarding the Dinardo era, where is Alan Faneca??? All-America, 1st Round Draft pick, 7-time Pro Bowl, Super Bowl champion??? Faneca was a monster when he was at LSU.

There's still Jarvis Green, Mark Roman, and Booger McFarland from that era. I totally forgot about Chad Lavalais. I can't recall a DT getting so much penetration like he did... ever. They guy knew the snap count on every play it seemed. I forgot about Corey Webster and Kevin Mawae, too.
McFarland was listed. Jarvis Green (4th Round Draft Pick) was during the Saban era, at least during his last two years. But yeah, Mark Roman (2nd Round Draft Pick), he was another superstar of the Dinardo era.
Wow, I don't know that I can add much to those lists. There have been so many wonderful athletes through the years at . What sticks out in my mind more was getting to interact with some of the athletes and coaches and finding out just how solid people they were. A couple of examples. Chris Carrier and Steve Rehage were in my freshman English class (1002, I believe). We just started talking in class, started studying together, hung out a little bit. Sort of lost touch over the summer and the next fall I became friendly with Kevin Carrier, Chris' brother, from another class. I still didn't have any idea that both Chris and Steve were LSU!football players until Kevin told me. Hanging with Kevin the next year or so I'd frequently see Chris and Steve and I got a kick out of walking around campus with one or the other when they were wearing their letterman jackets. I lost touch with all of them after graduation until a five years or so later when I ran into Chris one summer while taking some graduate classes. He was getting certified to teach and was coaching for Catholic High School. Turned out we lived around the corner from each other. Good people, all of them. For those of you who don't remember Steve Rehage, think Craig Steltz just not quite so fast. When I was coaching middle school basketball, I had a really promising player who blew his knee out in practice before our season even started. He was down in the dumps, as you would expect, and I wanted to try to keep his interest in basketball up. I remembered that Randy Livingston had had a similar knee injury and had returned from it, so I called the  basketball office and eventually ended up telling the tale to Dale Brown. He invited my player to come out on a Saturday game day and spend it with Randy Livingston, seeing how he recovered from the injury. I went with him. Both of these men spent significant time with this injured middle school basketball player before the game. We watched the game and got to go into the locker room when it was over. Again, just solid people. Like I said, there have been so many great athletes to wear the purple and gold and I've enjoyed watching each and every one of them. But when you ask me for my favorites, it's these four people who come to my mind. :geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige:geauxtige
