So a city can't tack on extra laws? Lousiana may be red as the bloods but New Orleans is a democratic city.

I know that Chicago and Washington DC have fucked up gun laws. New Orleans has the same laws as Louisiana which favor the responsible gun owner. Most New Orleans killings are somehow gang related so it doesn't matter what the law is. The gangstas all have criminal records and can't legally purchase guns but they have them anyway.

The GOP is supposed to be all for local governments having more power. They should not cry about it when a city with a serious gun violence problem takes some common sense measures to slow it down.

The key words are common sense. Banning guns isn't a viable path. I would put strict waiting periods and gun safety education requirements in place.
Most important is that the hopelessness and despair that pervades the inner cities due to lack of opportunity must be changed. The cycle of extreme poverty and government dependence must be eliminated. That will take effort and money to accomplish but if done correctly will more than pay for itself. To do so would take a strong will and willingness to demand all to work towards the goal not just throw money and "sympathy" at it. I doubt either left ot right would be willing to do what is required.

Banning guns isn't viable, but gun registration, like New York requires, probably makes good sense in this day and age. Gun owners must be at least as responsible for the guns as we are for cars and boats.

Negative. He said, " You can take new orleans out of that equations, Louisiana gun laws are not that tough." New Orleans is in Louisiana.

Which is why I asked if a city or Parish can create and enforce laws or ordinances that wouldn't be created or enforced in another parish or city. I'm quite aware New Orleans is in Louisiana homes.
