Before the games started, I read a lot of talk about the SEC going undefeated in the bowl games. Right now, we're 1 & 2, and SCs got their hands full with Michigan and the Dawgs are tied with Nebraska.
I posted that somewhere. Have to with all you SEC Honks; otherwise I'll be a (enter any given team name here) fan.
How are kids who before this season were on a "mission to Miami" supposed to be stoked about playing on NYE in the eet mor ckikn bowl?
Ive said many times that I feel Miles is trying too much to distance himself from being, "The Hat" or the "The Mad Hatter." Miles is at his best when he has that swagger about him. When he is coaching to win. Since the '07 season Miles has tried too hard to not be that gambler of a coach. He has coached uber conservative. He has tried too much to coach, rather than play to his natural strengths. Miles backers will point to last year. But last year was an anomaly. THe OL played at an all time level. Everyone knew what was coming but couldnt stop it.
With our fertile recruiting grounds, facilities, program revenue... and the fact LSU is a top 6 program whether pro or college... LSU could find anyone they wanted to refill the position, and we have the money to do it.
It's a loaded question. No matter what name is thrown out, the Miles lovers will always find some kind of fault with it. I don't hate Miles and don't really want to get rid of him, but he does frustrate the piss out of me with his boneheaded gaffes and stubborness. I know it's been mentioned a million times, but he's got to find an OC with a proven track record of playcalling and QB development. If he doesn't do that and next year is like this one, then I think it's time for a change. If Miles does move on, I wouldn't mind having Chris Petersen as coach, but prying him out of Boise is almost impossible. I also think Gary Patterson would do a good job. His defenses are always tough, but I don't really care for his style of offense (spread). I'd prefer to keep a pro style offense. But, like Petersen, it will be tough to get him away from TCU. They're in a BCS conference where the competition isn't as fierce and the road to the BCS is alot easier, so why would he leave? Other then that, I would hope that Alleva could put together a competent search committee to find a replacement. Here's where the pro-Miles people will bash both coaches I named and say that Alleva couldn't put together a child's puzzle, much less a competent committee to find a new coach.
Another rocket scientest...Sport JOE ALEVA is AD Berftman hasn't been around for years. You make one valid point "That's assuming LSU would hire a suitable replacement"...Who do you expect LSU to get who will do better? Maybe John Gruden or Andy Reid or how about Nick Saban..or maybe Now fine to criticize much of what is going on and Miles but to call for a replacement is as realistic as the fantasys the Tenn and Arky fans did earlier this fall.
No it is when you mention Chris Peterson Gary Patterson John Gruden or other coaches we would have no chance at getting it is an unreal proposition. If you have mentioned the dude that just took the Wisconsin job or the like then you have place for discussion. However one other problem the fire Mile group (I see you aren't one of them) all refuse to face; getting rid of Miles with his record would poison the name LSU to ALL coaches. Well maybe we could get Curly Hallman or Gerry DiNardo or Petrino. Money is less attractive when a school won't support a coach with the best winning percentage in its history.
