However, we weren't in it for Patterson until well after the NC game. Tenn, UGA, and Auburn were the teams on him from the beginning. Ole Miss and LSU are the new horses in the race.
Still something for him to consider, however. Although he won't have JJ throwing him the ball, so maybe it's a wash. Hopefully Mett was able to convince him. Mett knows what he can bring to the table in terms of experience and talent.
You may be right. But, at this date and time, UGA and Murray are proven entities. UGA throws the ball downfield and LSU does not. I think, as a top level WR, and JUCO kid with two seasons to get to the NFL, you have to look at that. In that regard, I think UGA has an advantage. They can look a recruit in the eyes and tell them they will throw the ball. I think any recruit, basaed on our passing game the last 4 seasons, would have a difficult time believing Les Miles if he said the same thing. While I think Mett is going to be stellar, he has not had enough game reps to convince many on this board (I am not one of them, I think he should have been playing a lot since day one on campus) that he is going to be good. I hope we get Patterson. I hope Mett impressed him enough he will be a Tiger tomorrow, but, looking at it like a kid being recruited, numbers may mean more than championships?
if i'm Patterson and I'm just looking for catches, I go to LSU over Georgia...Georgia already has two stud WRs coming back next year in Tavarres King and Malcolm Mitchell. Same with Tenn... they already have two stud WRs coming back in Rogers and Hunter. while at LSU, their only stud WR just left for the NFL...
Honestly, I think our wide receivers are plenty good enough for Mett to throw to. Height is nice, but remember it's not essential. West Virginia had a field day throwing the ball against us (an extremely stout pass defense) with quick, short receivers like Shep...and don't forget about Armand Williams. he may pan out very well.
:geaux: As I said, Patterson could and very well may end up at UGA. We'll should all find out tomorrow. If he does, it is what it is. We've got OBJ, Wright, Shep & thank goodness Kadron Boone stayed. I also hope we'll see J. Fobbs on the field next year as well. We'll be OK without him, but would be a lot better with him. I'm sure Richt and other schools mentioned our passing offense the last four years a time or two. I definitely would have. Having said that, from what I've heard Patterson knows Mett from from their JUCO days. He knows first hand what Mett can do and what he's capable of. In addition, CLM himself has already said that LSU's offense will be quite a bit different from past years with Mett at the controls. It can't help but be a more explosive offense with Mett in there. Combine Mett and our pounding running game and the sky's the limit, IMO, and better than UGA's offense with Murray. But will that and his first hand knowledge of Mett be enough to sway Patterson to LSU? We'll know tomorrow I guess. :LSU231:
what a waste of talent. tenn is a train wreck. on a side note, i get up and get my coffee to get ready for nsd. i turn on espnu at 7:15 and there is a freakin tim tebow special on. really? GAG! couldnt we have gotten something better? like dead air?
I thought he was making his decision at 10am. Surprised that I log in this early and see he is already made his call. Reduces the drama level of today for us even lower.
