1. We use BMI daily for kids, it’s a very useful indicator, not perfect, but very indicative. In adults, however, it’s less helpful. Waist:HT is much better. Having said that, in general, a low BMI is not bad, lol, unless you have a psych pathology, ie anorexia. So, striving for a low BMI, is not a bad thing, and, generally, associated with good health.

  4. This may be true in adults, but in developing children, particularly prepubertal children, BMI is an accurate, helpful indicator. Again, not perfect, but a good indicator. The science does support it in the Peds world. But, it needs to be used as a consideration, not absolutely.

  5. In fairness, if you can moderate your overall intake despite sugar consumption, sugar is not bad. It’s just the fact that all of these products with sugar in them make it so much easier to eat more. What you’re saying is consistent with that though I think.

  6. I don’t hate BMI, it’s a crude tool.
  7. Average American diet pre1970, 30g sugar per day. Now, >150g per day. Should be <10% of diet, previously taught up to 20-30% was okay. Gotta shift mindset in this.

  8. Just too prevelant, and basically in a ton of items you wouldn’t think about, and a byproduct of a ton of other items. It isn’t bad in moderation, just so hard to moderate.

  9. That's all I'm saying. Terrible for being cited as standard.
I'd say it's bad because it makes you insulin resistant and eventually diabetic.
