Today LSU released a timeline of acquiring a new tiger. After renovations on the habitat are complete and plan to have a new tiger in place coming in with the new freshman class in August.

Perhaps in a small way but probably a much bigger concession to whomever is providing the tiger. "LSU is working to have the tiger habitat accredited as a tiger sanctuary. Becoming an accredited sanctuary means that LSU has met high standards of excellence in animal care and is operating ethically and responsibly. " No ethical, accredited animal sanctuary or zoo is going to provide a tiger without that sort of declaration.
It should be, that habitat is better than any zoo I have ever visited. It's got a freaking waterfall ffs. I've been to a couple of zoos where they were just in a small grassy area with chain link fencing around it. Nothing special for sure.
