1. You sure they weren't F-18 Hornets (since it was a Naval base.) We had two squadrons of those at Dobbins when I was there and they had to be the noiseist little bastards I've ever heard.
  2. Probably were now that I think about it. I believe they had both planes and no telling what else. Oceana may be the largest naval air base in the world. That whole area has a vast military prescence. Dam Neck where the SEALs train is just down the road. In nearby Norfolk there is the largest naval harbor in the world. There is a huge army base between Virginia Beach and Norfolk on the back road by the Chesapeke Bay.
  3. No real reason for the Navy to have 16s

14's almost certainly but not 16s

  4. I was on the ground. They were in the air. The larger planes made a lot more noise than the smaller ones.
  5. I don't know dude, those little bastards make a hell of a loud noise

  7. Had a buddy in one of my squadrons flew U-2's, couldn't tell us anything about the airplane or their mission, too classified.

I know the survivor of this crash. He’s amazingly recovered very well. Gave a local tv station an interview recently.
