Thing about Mettenburger is with all the Talent on this team and they have another great year next year you could see him leave for the NFL Draft if his stock's high because he will be one of the top QBs in CFB. 2013 QB Draft probably will be weak with Barkley, RGIII, Luck, Landry Jones, B.Weeden, C.Keenum, Kellen Moore, and Kirk Cousins just to name a few all in this upcoming Draft so IMO Mettenburger will be gone after next yr

It would be nice to get that stud pro style QB we could count on for 3yrs.

I hear CLM REALLY likes Jerrard Randall. Appears this is his next "pet". I could see him in the Perilleaux role of 2007 more than the JJ role.

I think Randall is a whole lot like Perriloux. I actually do think that he is a better, or more natural, runner than RP was......he has that same smoothness of motion, doesn't waste a lot of excessive energy with his movements, and his vision benefits him greatly because his acceleration gets him up to top speed so quickly. He's not so much a quick burst runner as he is one that drops the clutch and zooms through the holes before they close.

More importantly, people focused on Perriloux's running ability and often downplayed his ability to pass, when, in fact, he was a very good passer. Randall is the same way. If you watch some of his video, he is actually an excellent passer and makes great throws both from the pocket, rolling out in a bootleg, or even on a full sprint away from the defender. He has touch on the passes that need it and is able to place the ball well for his WR's to catch in stride or to keep away from coverage. Sure, sometime he chunks the ball up like all high school QB's who have good receivers who can head downfield and just use athleticism to fight for the ball, but more often than not you see him take the snap, read the defense, dodge a defender or two, and then send a pass on a rope to his WR downfield.

Even if Mett leaves, we will be in good shape with Randall.

PURPLE TIGER HOPE is not a strategy!

I don't mind a passing QB who can run or a running QB who can pass...

I just don't want a repeat of a running QB who can't pass and a passing QB who can't run.

Dude, I have to ask, do you close your eyes or change the channel when JJ comes in the game this year? I just don't understand how any LSU fan can still latch onto this perception of him.

That said, Randall IS a lot like RP (although let's hope not too much ;)). Great arm & accuracy and is also an amazing runner. I've even heard some say that he has the best arm on the team. I think he will definitely be used as a change of pace with ZM, and the team will benefit from it immensely. He's entirely too gifted to keep off the field. And if having two good QBs that play regularly is something that you find objectionable, then I don't know what to yell you.

LSU fans expectations of a QB have been lowered so far the last four years that any QB that doesn't prevent the team from winning is considered great. Hopefully one or more of the guys being talked about will raise the bar considerably.

Big news on the recruiting front. After a visit for the Arkansas game, Gunner Kiel - the nation's No. 1 QB - is back on #LSU campus today.
