Four Golf Shots You Never Practice (But Should)
Hooded Iron Shot
Sometimes when we’re under a low-hanging tree branch, we are forced to take our medicine and chip out, but if we can do so by still advancing the ball into a range for a shorter approach we can still be a minor hero. You can practice it with any iron and then learn how hooding the club (arms in a slightly forward press, delofting the club and ball back in the stance) makes the trajectory much lower. If you learn to make solid contact, you can use the shot to get out of a lot of trouble.
The opposite of what you're doing in the sand with an open face. I close my stance off a bit as well.
