1. Splenda is supposedly natural and aspartame is not. Drink that one instead.
  2. I use Splenda in coffee. It is made with stevia which is extracted from sugar without the calories.
  3. Yes I know. I've used it for years. Pretty good. But I suck down aspartame too.
  4. Wit aspartame I have to add a little sugar too to make it taste right. With Splenda I can use it alone
  5. I drink Diet Coke. I've been drinking diet sodas since college. I didn't like the taste of any of them at first, but I got used to the taste by drinking Diet Sprite, which tasted enough like regular Sprite to me.

Now, I don't like the taste of any of the non-diet sodas.

I do try to limit mysel to two a day. Sometimes, that works; sometimes, that doesn't. Otherwise, I drink water (and alcohol, of course.)

I'm sure those effects are true of any soda, and moderation is the key to everything in life. If I got upset over every "scary" graphic posted on the internet, I would have to be a vegan (and I think those people are freakin' nuts.) Maybe they'll live longer...but if you don't eat any good stuff, what's the point?

  6. Stacy, I could have written your post, pre-Lent. Since I have kicked my DC habit, I tried one and it really tasted awful. Water, milk and plenty of booze for me!
  7. I try to drink more iced tea instead of carbonated drinks. I still use the Splenda, but it doesn't take much to sweeten tea.
  8. Cut it out for 60 days and then take a sip. You'll be amazed at how sweet it is and it makes you wonder how you ever drank a whole can. I still ended up back on them (one a day), but I'm in the process of quitting again. I'm about a week in.
  9. When I was still drinking DC, occasionally a server would bring me regular Coke. Blaah. It tasted like syrup. But, give all of it up and they all taste like crap.
  10. I wish more women would adopt this approach in general.
