  2. Chris Garrett:

  3. Seems like Bama was a day late, and a dollar short.

  4. I took it as Saban being relentless and a plus for his never say die approach.

  6. Soo.....

    What?
  7. I don't know a whole lot about Garrett. I was hoping to stimulate some conversation so I could learn more about him.

I like seeing that he was the starter as a sophomore in high school. Being a starting high school QB is a pretty unique experience, and each extra year you have of that experience is pretty huge.

As for his stats, he seems like another Flynn. Is that basically the highest expectation people have of him? But then again, he might improve significantly his senior year, similar to how Jordan Jefferson did. Of course, stats don't tell the full story, it's just a starting point.
  8. OK, now we're talkin'.

Thing is, high school stats are tough to compare without some context.

But I think starting as a Soph is an indicator, as you point out.

Bigger indicator is that LSU, who is arguably doing fine recruiting QB, chose to grab him from MSU. I think he's just the quality competition Russell Shepard needs. And if RS is as good as he appears to be, CG may get to push him for a bit, then start after RS departs. Only time will tell.
  9. Garrett is a stumble-bum* and a 2-3 yr Project at best.

    *Slow afoot

Garrett is nowhere on the same planet as Flynn, a legitimate 4.6 man that could outrun linebackers and is now seeing out his true dream of an NFL shot this Fall

Personally, I would have rather seen Dodd come here, but that's just due to an intense hatred for T-A&M, and a desire to see that THEY GET NOTHING in the area of recruiting. My bad:wink:

Anyway, Garrett is just backup insurance and will likely never see the field. But then, when have we said this before. Look at Mauck, Look at Flynn! Wouldn't surprise me to see Garrett lead LSU to another crystal in 4 or 5 years.
  10. Um. What? Can I speak to Lou? Lou, are you in there?
