http://tidefans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36102 Will we put a spy on Russell? To my knowledge we haven't really played anyone with a QB like JR this year. I know Chris Leak could run, but he's not the athlete JR is. Do we place a spy on him like we did with Roach on Norwood last weekend?" "Russell is 6' 6" and weighs 252. We'll need a pretty big spy." hahahaha...... Russel is many things, but a "athlete" might not be one of them... not exactly a "burner" running the ball.... Have these guys even WATCHED LSU this year? I saw another post saying Justin Vincent was our STARTING runningback and how he was in the appy state game in the 4th quarter.... Rude Suprises await on saturday...
Tidefans.com is an annoying read because only a minority of their posters seem to know what they're talking about when it comes to our side of the ball. Other times it's like,"Alabama is going to win because our offense will show up finally and LSU hasn't seen a defense like this and Bryant Denny Stadium is going to be loud!!" Besides Jamarcus Russell, Joseph Addai, and Skyler Green, I'd imagine they'd have a hard time naming 5 more players on the LSU roster. They're really only experts in their own right, which is Alabama football, not LSU football. I tend not to read that particular site because it seems you just get the same recycled garbage of them complaining about LSU fans and not enough intelligent football discussion.
Lookin' for intelligent football discussion on a bammer board is like lookin' for a hummingbird's nutz.
I've never inspected the genitalia of a bird but I think that would be very difficult.:lol::lol:
With a comment like that you don't really scream intelligence yourself. As for the Tidefans posts, those were two posts out of about a million. I agree that there are some stupid people who don't know a lot about football on tidefans.com but that can be said about every team's forums. JR isn't a threat to run the ball, most Bama fans know that. We also know that Addai is your starting RB and that Shyrone Carey is a backup but I'm not sure if I spelled his name right or even if he's 2nd or 3rd string. The difference is I'm not going to sit here and act like I know a lot about your team. I have seen them play a few games but, call me crazy, I like to follow my own team. From what I have seen of your team, I don't see any reason why Bama fans should be in for "rude surprises" like one LSU poster suggested. JR doesn't scare me, he's got a cannon for an arm but he makes some bad decisions under pressure and forces the ball a lot causing turnovers. Your offensive line is very good but Addai is just good, not great. Bama should be able to shut the running game down pretty effectively because our defensive line and linebackers are exceptional. Your WR's are pretty good but so is our secondary and they've been playing great, even Madison, these last few games and have been forcing a lot of INT's. The key will be getting pressure on JR and forcing him to make more mental mistakes. If Bama doesn't get any pressure against a very good offensive line, JR will eventually find open WR's. The problem for Bama is our offensive line, as everyone knows. They are now injury plagued and already inexperienced. LSU's defensive line is inconsistent but still pretty solid. I expect LSU to blitz constantly and get to Brodie quite often. Darby has dealt with this poor offensive line all season and still manages to average over 100 yards per game. He will get solid yardage but nothing special. LSU's linebackers aren't the strong point of the defense but they're still good, and definitely better than the secondary. Brodie and his WR's would be able to burn LSU's secondary, because they are not very good. However, with the offensive line not giving Brodie any time to throw the football the passing game could suffer immensely. If they don't play better I could see Brodie getting hurt and/or throwing a couple picks. Bama's defense will show up and play well, that's a given. The difference in the game will come down squarely on the shoulders of Bama's offensive line. If they play well and protect Brodie then Bama will win. If not, then LSU takes the game and the West.
Jamarcus has thrown 5 interceptions in 8 games. Thats it. You Bama fans want to believe that Jamarcus is just this loose cannon that can't be relied upon when the truth is that he is in the top two in the league in completion percentage and passing efficiency. Think how much better those stats would be if our receivers had caught some key passes in several games. JR's stats and Brodie's stats are almost identical. I will agree that the one loss we have is partially a result of Jamarcus' worst throw of the year into coverage against UT that was intercepted and brought back to the two at a terrible time for it in the ballgame. However to say he causes a lot of turnovers when he is passing is incorrect.LSU!
