You're the coach... do you really NOT start game planning for South Carolina?

I write this just under the pic saying "Championships Are Won One Game At A Time". I realize this is our motto. I also realize how crazy college football is (App State, etc....). And of course I'm aware of how many points MTSU put up last week but.... I think if I were coach I would secretly be game planning for USCe. In other words, I wouldn't come out and let the players know but I'd start them practicing some packages I planned to use against them this week. I know it's a recipe for catastrophe but I think the risk is small enough to be easily managed. So I'm not saying all out prepping for SC and not even looking at MTSU film, I'm just saying it would be nice to get the jump on them in terms or prep time. I think we can handle MTSU through brute force and forcing them to react to us and not the other way around (even on defense).

I know every week is pretty much prep for ALL future opponents to some degree, I'm talking about going just a bit further with that.

What do yall think, worth the risk? I think I'd do it. I'd never tell a soul though (other than some coordinators). It pretty much goes against everything all coaches ever preach but I'd do it. Any other takers?

PS: forgive me in advance for speaking out against the Tiger Forum motto... "one game at a time"

Just in case there is any confusion, I'm referring to Darth Visor's South Carolina team NOT One Pete's USC.

The assistant coaches already are. I doubt they implement much this week but the film breakdown and game planning has already begun. Plus, they spend a good part of fall camp doing little things for all teams so it is not a surprise come game week.

true... The absolute perfection in game planning and execution against VT in addition to superior talent, speed, and depth was just an awesome sight. That was possibly the most flawless game I've ever seen the Tigers put together against ANY team much less a top 10 team. Seriously, the execution impressed me more than the Peach Bowl vs Miami or the whoopin of Arizona. It was a masterpiece in every facet. The only thing I could even think wasn't absolutely perfect was Doucet fielding a punt inside the 10. But even that wasn't so bad, we wanted mistake free special teams and that's what we got and we knew the offense could move it no matter where they started from. Punt Ugly didn't even look too bad. If we play even close to that over the next 4 games I'll be 100% sold that we are quite possibly the greatest Tiger team in my life time and that we will win it all. I walked out of that stadium with my chest pumped out and a swagger of pride like I had witnessed one of the most complete games that I've ever seen. It was just sooooooooo dominant!

True. I've seen some staff's starting preparing for a game in the spring. Two in the SEC are infamous for this, MSU and Ark. Most, like you mentioned, are implementing things as far as weeks 6-8 in the fall.

Absolutely not. South Carolina doesn't exist this week... only MTSU.

Yes and no, Id say. As a coach I would prepare for USC a little bit, but keep the players focused on MTS, as they too have a bright offensive mind for a HC, ala App. St. This might be a bit of a cop out answer, but I would hate for MTS to become our App. St. or even UAB this year.
