Here's a photo of an authentic glass sculpture by Lino Tagliapietra ... acknowledged as one of the best Italian Maestro Glass Blowers in Murano ... He made six of these glass sculptures based on a photo of a Blue Marlin I caught in Kona in the 1980's (I talked him into the endeavor). The Blue Marlin sculpture is over 4 feet long ... Mine cost $5,000 USD ... a gift from an Old friend (at cost) ... His other five went for $18,000 Euros each and were sold in less than 3 months

I've shown him a photo of Nick Saban holding up the CRYSTAL ... and he liked "the chararcter and features" in Saban's face ... even asked if Saban was Italian ... he's all for doing them ... base at chest line above podium ... Cost for life-sized glass sculpture (Saban's chest, head, arms above holding crystal) estimated at $25K-$30K USD each ... I told him I'd like to contract 50, he laughed and asked if I was trying to kill him ... we settled tentatively on a 10 quantity for an undisclosed price :wink: ... I'll sell 'em in a Nick Saban second ... already have 4 "verbals" :hihi:

 

Finally...someone with some sense. I think. In a round about way I agree ramah. Saban is staying. I wish I could let you guys in on the inside scoop (here we go boys) but I can't. He ain't goin' nowhere until he tries my "second daddy's" jambalaya. We haven't thrown the party yet so he HAS to stay...

Well at this time it is only a meeting, but he's not going to get (according to reports) a better deal than this anywhere. If he were ever going to leave, this would stand as good a chance as any for him. If he does stay, he will probably be here for a while - that's not to say his name won't come up every year, it will.

Ummm, Lino Tagliapietra is a contemporary artist that works with glass. I seriously doubt that he would or could make that "flea market looking" blue marlin. All of his work is usually seen in galleries not inside some knick knack shop.
