Real simple, guys: the odds of us jumping an 11-1 OSU are very, very slim.

Since kickoff in Ann Arbor is at 11, I plan on focusing on that game first. A nice thing about the early kickoff is national observers can watch the Wolverines exact revenge for last year's loss---and play their seemingly traditional role of knocking the Bucks out of the national title picture---then switch over and watch us shut down the Rebs in Oxford.

I'm searching for decent Michigan fansites to post messages and get info on our favorite team outside of Baton Rouge, info I will faithfully reproduce here once received.

    This site looks promising:

Hail to the Victors (for now)!http://www.umgoblue.com/

IF Michigan wins on Sat, and we take care of business the rest of the way...well, get ready to par-ty on Bourbon Street because we'll pass USC!

Forget about Michigan being a spoiler.

Michigan is playing for an outright Big Ten Championship as well.
I strongly doubt that Michigan considers itself as an underdog...

Both teams have only one loss in conference play and Michigan is very capable of getting a BCS bowl bid if they win.

The stakes are high this year in this bitter rivalry..!!

I totally agree, didn't mean to give the impression that it would be an upset; to the contrary, an OSU win would be more of a shocker.

Just signed up at UMGoBlue.com as username PurpleGoldforMaizeBlue, and I invited those guys to check out this site as well.

LOL...they're already smaking Saban for his old Spartan ties. They'll take care of business, they say, as long as we lose once more before it's all over. :)

Michigan is one of the hottest teams in the country right now (one of...). I think they will easily handle OS and put them to bed early. Should be an exciting game...if you are a Michigan fan.

I was in Detroit last week and several Michigan fans assured me that they would beat OSU. I'm sleeping easy now. :geaux:

Here's a nice position by position analysis posted by (get this) a Michigan fan who lives in Louisiana.

    Anyway, a nice read:

As a Cajun with Maize and Blue hopes , I would love nothing more than for Michigan to beat OSU and then LSU fall somewhere and end up playing Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Don't know if that will happen since LSU fans have the knock that they don't travel very well (outside the South).

Anyway, glad you found this board and welcome to the safe haven for us Michigan fans.

OK, you wanted a Michigan primer, I'll try to put it in terms you would understand, being that you're an LSU fan.

The offensive line is where the offense starts. Much like LSU's bunch this year, it's loaded with veterans and lots of depth. Solid from top to bottom, really no weak point on the O-Line.

The backfield of course features tailback Chris Perry. I would say he's sorta a mix between LaBrandon Toefield and Domanick Davis. He's a bruiser (as evident by his 51 carries), but he's also got great feet. I love watching him hurdle defenders. He's as tough as they come and has that breakaway speed to go with it. He's currently third in the nation with 1,361 yards rushing.

Quarterback is John Navarre. I don't know that LSU has ever had a quarterback I can compare to Navarre. He's a big guy, 6-5 or 6-6 depending on what side of the field he's standing. He was a defensive end in high school. He's a four-year player and has broken several career records and will most likely break Elvis Grbac's career TD record. Steady as they come, but the knock on him is that he hasn't won the big game.

Receiving corps is very comparable to LSU's. Braylon Edwards is probably the leader, but I would put Jason Avant and Steve Breaston in his category on any given Saturday. Very balanced, even if Edwards gets the most amount of balls thrown his way. Edwards is like Michael Clayton. A real playmaker. I don't think he's as tough as Clayton, but he's faster and probably has better athletic ability. Breaston is our Skyler Green. He's a freshman, big punt returner with the ability to go the distance. Avant is our Devery Henderson. Solid player, always makes big catches and ends up having big games without the spotlight.

Tight ends have had somewhat of a dropoff from past years. Tim Massaquoi and Andy Mignery are both big guys, solid targets. Mignery has been playing well. Massaquoi is a physical specimen that will be good when he develops.

Defensively, with the exception of a couple of games (Oregon and Minnesota), the Wolverines have been very good on defense this year. They rank 9th in the country in total defense.

Defensive line has been very good this year. Good veteran group, a lot like LSU's. Not quite as athletic as Spears, Hill and Lavalais, but just as strong, if not stronger.

The linebackers are young for the most part, but have been solid this year. Linebacker has always been a strength at Michigan.

The secondary is believed by many to be the strength of this team. Marlin Jackson (when healthy) is a top 5 DB in the country. Just like LSU, some youth in the secondary that has stepped up has really made it solid.

Punting game, we won't discuss. Kicking game is getting better. Freshman Garrett Rivas is starting to come around. He's got a strong leg (like Chris Jackson), just needs the experience to go with it.

Overall, Michigan and LSU are very similar, so I don't see where you would have a problem switching sides for one week. The big difference is we have better uniforms.

Hope you enjoy the game. I know I will.

GO BLUE!!!! or as we say down here GEAUX BLUE!!!!!!!!
