1. Whats the lowdown on your skill guys? replacing starters? How are the new guys looking? Projected starters?Do you see lsu running or throwing at tech? I know your D is nasty but i havnt heard alot about the offense. BTW - i really like Addai now ,,,,big colts fan
  2. Welcome, hard to say with Crowton. If the O-line stays healthy I think he'll keep it balanced, I say 60% passing. I believe the key to the game is Tech's D vs our O-line and the possibility of catching a "new" offense off-guard. And then there's Tech's special teams. Our punting worries me, I fully expect to see Tech block a kick.

Kieland Williams will start at RB, he's really special. Holliday will be fun to watch, I'm daydreaming of a Flynn/Holliday option :thumb: Look for Flynn/Doucet to light it up. The surprise in our offense I'm looking for is utilizing the tight ends in the passing attack.

    I'm gonna need a valium.....:hihi:

  3. Big, strong, athletic, experienced and scary fast.

One of the eight "new" guys is a former starter and all have played.

None of the new guys are green. Many have seen considerable playing time. Two freshmen might make the second team.

    fourteen starters return.

Both, obviously. There are no one-dimensional teams in the top-10.

The offense is very good, but is replacing a quarterback and two wideouts and is installing a new offense under a new OC. It may take a few games to gel completely. VT catches them at a good time.

LSU finished #1 in scoring offense and total offense as well as #1 scoring defense and total defense in the SEC last season, a league that included the national champions, Florida. We expect similar results this season.
  4. I think our offense is ok. We lost some really talented guys but we're still stacked. Our starting WRs are Early Doucet and Brandon LaFell. Doucet is a great receiver who will be unstoppable, he's at least one of the top 3 WRs in college football. LaFell is a 6'4" guy who has a great leaping ability and runs in the 4.3s. He had 2 58 yard TDs last season, he's going to be a very dangerous vertical weapon for us. As for the RBs, we are really confident about them. Keiland Williams is expected to be the starter, he had a great freshman season. Then there is Richard Murphy, a Reggie Bush styled RB and Charles Scott, who is a hard nosed runner. Our FB Hester will also get a lot of carries, he's a sure yards kind of guy who rarley commits mistakes and is a great blocker and catcher. As for the QBs, I think both are good as of right now, and have good potential to become top rated passers in the NCAA. Our O-line is looking good, with more experience under their belt, but the only problem is that we're really thin at the position.
  5. Woops, forgot about Trindon Holliday. Incase you dont know who he is, he IS the fastest player in college football, and the second fastest athlete in the NCAA. The guy is a constant home run threat, and a dangerous KR. He averaged something like 11 yards a CARRY last season.
  6. Our biggest worry at RB will be can we get all the talented guys enough playing time to be happy. WR takes a little longer to learn but we are loaded with talent yet lacking experience. We have enough very talented young guys that we should be able to find a couple to fill the #3 and #4 slots, #1 and #2 are filled. I think we will be very balance between the run and the pass, I don't foresee LSU going pass happy even with Crowton, but it will look a little different.

  7. what he said too
  8. the skill players get all the attention but arent hard to replace for top programs. dont expect a drop off from jamarcus russell to matt flynn. many are concerned about losing two 1st rd draft pick WRs in dwayne bowe and craig davis but i am not because---new OC will use other options more making WR less important, LSU has recruited many talented WRs, the departed WRs while great did not make tons of big plays (were closer to possession receivers).

im very interested to see what LSU's O does against VT. seems youre strength in front 7. will LSU be able to handle that with a west coast attack or will pro set be necessary?

i expect several misdirections to be used to keep your D honest.

i think LSU wins basically because the OL will be the best LSU has had in years. the wildcard being your special teams which can always throw a wrench in things.
