hey guys, just wanted to drop a post-game line in for you guys. what an experience! that was f-ing awesome.

the weekend started off with the drive from austin to lake charles where we stayed with some friends. up early on saturday and in baton rouge by 10. we made it over to campus around 11 and loaded up with what seemed like more booze than we could ever even look at, we set out to try and find guzzlin'gil and the krewe of ragoo tailgate. after a few erroneous points in the other direction and an informal 'campus tour,' we finally hooked up with the krewe. that's not a tailgate...that's a fiesta, chocked full of rednecks, cajuns, and other fun loving lsu folks. what a great and nice group of people...just extremely receptive and very hospitable. after lots of mingling with everyone, pictures with ragoo, drinking, more drinking, more drinking, eating, more drinking, dancing, learning the tiger chants, more eating, more drinking, bonging that enormous keg-beer bong structure that was not describable, and yes, believe it or not, more drinking...we headed over to the tiger walk and to check out some more of campus which was nice.

we were in the stands before the weather delay announcement and one thing i was astounded by was the fact that all of the student section was filled an hour before the game. outstanding! my buds and i were pretty ripped by that time so we actually spent 6 dollars on a styrophome paw and stood at the top of the west side upper deck ramp cheering on all the lsu fans coming up the ramp and tiger baiting the auburn folks. the atmosphere was rocking once the weather passed and when the team made its appearance. i have to admit, when the pa guy got on and did the whole 'it's saturday night in death valley and here come your tigers' thing, i was in another world. the game itself was a little bit of a dissapointment since it wasn't very intense for long. i was pulling for lsu obviously but i was hoping for a closer game so it would be extremely loud the entire time...an inconvenience i doubt you guys minded too much. ;) lsu looked strong and was just way more fired up and ready to play than auburn. ran the ball well, playmakers made plays...just a butt whippin'.

afterwards, we hooked up with some auburn girls in the parking lots and got some food with them. they were depressed because of the game and bringing us down hard so we dropped them and headed to tigerland and fred's. good stuff, lots o' women. pretty long night there and a few random girls later, it was 4am and time to hit the sack.

we were up early on sunday and ate at chimes. pretty good stuff. took some more pictures around campus, went back to tiger stadium and took some pics from down on the field, threw the ball around in death valley and then it was back to austin.

so there it is, what a great weekend experience. my boys and i made a pact afterwards that we had to make an annual trip to an lsu night game in baton rouge from here out. as a big 12 fan, concede that sec games are pretty amazing and lsu in particular is like nothing else...especially with regards to tailgating.

thanks again to you guys for the advice and to the krewe of ragoo for welcoming us to tigerland with a bang! geaux tigers!!

    a gracious longhorn

Really glad to hear you had such a great time w.j.

You definitely must come back because that is the first time I can remember the LSU Pre-game basically being canceled. It's when the band lines up in the south endzone and marches onto the field. It's like the spark that gets everything going. It's magical and you have to see it.

Come back and do it again.

yeah, i had a feeling the weather dampend the fire and intensity a little bit but oh well, whatcha gonna do? it was still impressive and a great deal of fun. i will definitely be hitting up tiger stadium for many years. i'm thinking i might even add another school for an annual sec roadtrip. maybe uga or bammer.

we found ourselves on the kor picturebook website. immortalized! you can barely see us but we're way in the back...

I see the Tequila Queen in the hat (with the red hair in the pony tail). She funnels-literally-tequila straight.

The lovely lady in the white top double as a kindergarten teacher.

For some reason, the Van Halen song "Hot for Teacher" keeps running through my mind when I see that photograph. I don't know why, exactly.
