The Ga. Tech head coach who did not even realize what down it was in a critical last minute drive when they were down at the 20 yard line of Georgia. This guy was an idiot at Dallas, and obviously isn't any smarter now. Maybe this program doesn't care where its headed.
Nope. He should not be fired. In fact, any dumb coach of any college football team that is not LSU should get a pay raise and a contract extension! :tigerhead
The guy made a mistake...thats all....same thing happen to Mark Rict one year kinda except it was clock management ...I think it was his first year....
Clock management is one thing, everybody seems to screw that up, but forgetting the down is unforgiveable.
Thats why the referees hold up a sign saying what down it is plus it's usually on the score board too. Wasn't he talking to the guys upstairs like his OC? No excuses it was somebodies job to let everyone on his team know what down it was. For a guy with his resume that sure was a rookie head coach kind of mistake.
I know a professor at Georgia Tech who keeps talking about swaping the Tech football program with Emory University for Emory's Yerkes Monkey project. 90% of the Tech football players major in Business Administration because that is the only program on campus that doesn't require freshmen to take Calculus. And to think that Georgia Tech has historically won 5 national championships and was the coaching home of Heisman. Chan Galey will stay as long as he gets GT to a slider bowl every year.
Ultimately his responsibility however. I remember watching Gailey looking at his OC like he was crazy when he was flashing the "Spike the ball" signal to his QB. So I figured they weren't gonna do it. Oh well.
