From the one's I have been to, which is not very many I would say DKR(Texas) is the worst. The seating is so far away and most of it has bad sight lines. Lots of seating is in the endzones and the field is very far away from the 1st row. To make things worse their upper decks are very very steep, believe me(And you thought our upper decks are steep). The game I went to, I sat on the last row of the upper deck. An honorable mention is UH Robertson Stadium. Never actually been to a game there but I have been by there a few times and it is just a high school stadium with a few more seats(Kinda like ULL's). Actually some High School Stadiums are nicer than this place.
I've driven by the UT-Austin stadium a couple times and was not impressed. Usually when you pass a major college football stadium, you get some sort of weird feeling, I don't know, but that stadium makes you say, "is that it?" I guess it just has no atmosphere ... it's right on the freeway and doesn't feel like it belongs in college football. As much as I dislike A&M, their stadium is tight and the atmosphere is second to SEC.
I went to an LSU - Old Piss game in Jackson one time and was really shocked to find out that Jackson Memorial was nothing more than an overgrown high school stadium. If Tiger Stadium is the Ritz-Carlton Jackson Memorial is a Motel 6
While it isn't a full time college stadium the Cotton Bowl was a miserable expierence. The seats were too close together. There wasn't even enough room to cross your legs. If you stood up you couldnt even turn around without folding your seat up. And the endzone I sat in, the 1st row was at least a good 20 yards from the field. I also heard there are obstructed views due to the upperdeck supports.
I agree that the Cotton Bowl sucked ass. I was like 5 rows from the field in the endzone during the LSU-UT game and we were approximately 30 yards from the back of the endzone. Just a bad football stadium that onlyt deserves to host a few games a year.
I've been in the Cotton Bowl and it sucks. They oughta move the Cotton Bowl game to Texas Stadium in Irving. After all the Sugar Bowl used to be in Tulane Stadium until they moved it to the Superdome.
Miss.St. has a terrible stadium. It would be a nice high school stadium, but really doesnt compete with other sec stadiums. The endzones were not enclosed at least they werent in 1996. It is just a sad sight.
State definitely has a second-class stadium. Before they built the upper deck, it really looked like a high school football field. You couldn't really call it a stadium.
How about the Stupor Dome when Tulane is playing in there in front of 10,000 or so (announced) people? That must surely be one of the worst. I was the radio announcer for VMI football for several years and saw a number of Div. 1-AA stadiums (stadia?). The worst, by FAR, is East Tennessee State. It is a giant Quonset hut in which they also play their basketball games. The stands are raised up from the field so that you cannot see the near-side sideline unless you stand up. Awful place for anything. Memorial Stadium in Jackson is the pits as well.
"'ve been in the Cotton Bowl and it sucks. They oughta move the Cotton Bowl game to Texas Stadium in Irving. After all the Sugar Bowl used to be in Tulane Stadium until they moved it to the Superdome." I agree and then to Jerry's new stadium once he gets it built. Texas Stadium holds less people but even that run down place is the Ritz Carlton compared to the Cotton Bowl.
