I have to say that I'm not really concerned much if he coaches our team next year or not... In order, these are my biggest concerns regarding Men's BBall at LSU for next season... First of all, will Brandon Bass come back? Second, will Butch Pierre stay coaching at LSU? Therefore, will Tasmin Mitchell come to LSU and not go pro? Third and lastly, will Darrel Mitchell play better next year on the road? IMO, he's the MIP (Most Important Player) for next years team... Sure Bass and Davis will get their points, but it will be so much easier on them if we have someone, namely DMitch, hitting some outside shots. Next year, we have a chance to be very good, good (like this year), or average. None of that will have to do with who our Head Coach is.
"Coaches don't win games, players do" -- Mike Krzyzewski 03/20/05 Very nice post for a first post. Welcome to the forum.
Outside shooting had been the weak point for most of the year this past year for LSU. During those last couple weeks of the season, Hud and Mitch really stepped up their games and then it got a lot easier for LSU. So yes, to say Mitchell could be the "MIP" for next year... Well that may actually be understating things, if that's even possible!
Looks like we've gotten one that does just that. Taking this team from a terrible start to a 20 win season. That's a pretty good finish in my book.
I agree. Similar thoughts here. Coaches get their players/team in a position to either win or lose the game. Days before a game, coaches set the tone. Players have to execute what game plan was laid out. Sometimes things don't go the way you planned them, good and bad. Adjustments are critical. The game of basketball happens so fast. The game can change so much at any given moment, especially in basketball. Head basketball coaches, unlike head football coaches calls the offense, defense, SLOB and BLOB (out-of-bound plays), substitutions, etc. They also recruit and develop players. They set things in motion. With that being said, I know of coaches (high school) that are average, but look good b/c of the type of athletes they have. I know some coaches who have to coach their butts off just to be competitive b/c of the lack of talent. But I believe it all starts at the top and the kind of leadership that coach has is just as important during the preseason to the regular season and postseason.
I knew it was only a matter of time before one of these dumbass Brady threads would come right around to Larry Dauterive and Ryan Perrilloux! :thumb::rofl::thumb::rofl:
I think I finally realized why I dislike JB so much. Note the resemblance to a former employer named Brady (who I am not very fond of):
