This is a very good poll. Check it out and vote. Results are very telling what everyone is thinking. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/polling?event_id=3273
Couldn't help but notice the Tigers are leading in that poll...course, may have all been LSU fans...hehe :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
yes, LSU is leading, but Uga is 2nd and Hawaii is 3rd. There is NO WAY that a team that didn't even play in their conference championship game has a shot at the national title. it just doesn't make any sense to even consider it! I also think that a playoff, where the conference winners get a bid in the playoff, would make the regular season better. A team could lose 1 or 2 out of conference games and still win their conference and national title. That way, teams could schedule better OOC games instead of playing usl 3 times. :milesmic:
Really? Think back to a recent title game between LSU and OU in 2004. I believe KSt. won the Big12 championship.
I think we should adopt a small and efficient playoff. I really don't think conferences should have guarantees to play for a NC, it should be based on performance. And does the regular season really need to get any better? I believe it is universally accepted that college football has the best regular season out there; the problem is with the post season. If you start tinkering too much with the regular season you may get some unintended consequences that take away from the game. Allowing teams to lose during the regular season will take some of the passion out of the regular season (do we really want to move closer to what college basketball has?). A 16 team playoff would kill the bowls, put MORE pressure on programs to make the playoff or consider the season a failure, and really ignore a lot of the pertinent data that exists from the regular season. Teams can really be narrowed down to a handful of deserving teams, and I believe that is true even this year. I just might have to go back and do a computer ranking for this season, one of the craziest of all time. I believe we'd be able to fit all deserving teams into a playoff with 8 or less spots.
