How will parking for the Super Dome work out?

Will we have to show them our tickets as we come in to park?

Or is it open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis?

I need to know where to park too. I'd rather not have to pay $20 to park miles away.

I would guess that parking around the dome should be much easier than for a Saints game as there will be so many out of towners who flew in and the motor homers who shuttle in. Will expensive though. A lot of the better seats came with parking passes but not sure how many and availability.

I think that since they are expecting as many as 100,000 NON ticket holders down there, that parking is going to be an absolute nightmare.

SG you may be right, hadn't thought too much about that however most of those guys should be parked near the Quarter so that they can go watch the game quickly. If they hang around the dome and try to leave to go somewhere they may miss part of the game.

Don't forget, there are several tailgate groups that have rented out ENTIRE parking lots around the dome to make it worse.

Where will there be places to park---I will not be able to get to N.O. until around 1:30 in the afternoon. I heard there was going to be places in Metairie to park--will there be shuttles to the Dome or do you have to take a cab. I would much rather park close enough to the Dome to walk but want to explore all the options.

There is an area across the street (past the Claiborne bridge) that has some old warehouses. I parked there today for the Saints game and a lot of people park over there. It's free and relatively safe. Plenty of open lots...

For the Superbowl in 2002, I think that the Dome shut down their parking garage because of the heightened security concerns. I haven't heard that happening for this game though. But I would advise to plan on parking somewhere besides the Dome, a lot of those spots will be taken up by VIPs, etc.

If you can get in the lots at River Walk, the Hilton, or the ITC you would be close to both worlds of being near the Dome and also the Quarter, about halfway. Also, the year before ;ast we parked in one of the office buildings on Baronne St and there were police officers all around and it was very safe and that was only a 3 block walk to the quarter. my best freind parked his car in the Riverfront lot by the Jax Brewery over night then cabed down to the Dome so that he would have his car close by when he finished partying.
