From reading the local commentaries in Georgia, the game between Georgia and Georgia Tech should give a clear picture of whether or not Georgia will be able to handle the blitz packages that LSU will be able to use against Georgia. GT beat Miami by virtue of putting continuous pressure on their QB. If Georgia has trouble picking up the GT rush, it will certainly have even more trouble with LSU. Should be interesting to see how this unfolds.
More importantly, would Georgia be able to exploit the holes in the zone coverage by LSU, or open up their trick play book to exploit the fast pursuing defensive line? I am sure Arkansas' performance must have given them a lot of ideas. On the other hand, I am sure the LSU defense have learned to look out for trick plays from this game. ________ Grilling food
The Georgia - Georgia Tech game answered a few questions. Georgia was sacked only once in spite of being blitzed 50% of the time by Georgia Tech. I wonder what Pelini will do against the Georgia double tight end formations? Would he keep Prude on MoMass one on one or go to cover two zone and abandon the free safety blitz option? This formation is very tough to blitz against because Georgia can put one tight end in motion and throw to the other off the line. That puts a linebacker on Pope. Should be interesting.
