I hope Coach K doesn't make the jump, not because I'm a fan of Duke, but just because I think he's good for college basketball and I hate seeing people taint their careers by making the jump to the NBA ala John Calipari, Rick Pitino, etc.
I seriously doubt that Coach K will ever leave Duke. Over the past 12 years he has recruited arguably the best talent in the country. Duke is loaded every year with high school all americans with most staying in school for 4 years. With all that talent how many National Championships has Coach K won in those 12 years??........just one! I think there are plenty of coaches who could have accomplished what Coach K has with the talent available. I think he would be eaten alive in the NBA.
no way. he's simply entertaining himself and making the rounds. He just as well interview with LSU. I don't buy it.
According to Dickie V, who is a personal friend of Coach K, he's getting fed up with losing players to the pros after a year or two. Before this year's NBA draft, he was looking at a potential NC next year and now he's facing serious depth problems.
For now we should all just count our blessings that the *Lakers* did not go after Brady! Silly Lakers........
I think Coach K is great for college basketball. Here is a guy who has been able to recruit kids from all walks of life to come and play at one of the finest schools in the country, kept them out of trouble and academically eligible and somehow convinced an unbelievable majority of them to play all 4 years. If Coach K is feeling the game slipping away to the NBA and early entry, the rest of the basketball world is in trouble. If you look at a Duke roster in any given season over the last 10 years you will find at least two High School All-Americans riding the bench. Coach K is one of the very few coaches able to maintain a program with smart, intelligent (there is a difference), dedicated, focused, talented and team-oriented kids. The level of play at Duke hasn't declined one bit in over a decade. This guy is amazing and I hope this is simply inflated information...
