I apologize for my long absence friends. It's been a busy summer. But I've caught a break and thought I'd post something interesting. Check out Will Cummins argument against proposed hate-speech laws in the UK that would make criticism of Islam a "hate crime." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/...o1102.xml&sSheet=/news/2004/07/11/ixhome.html This quote, in particular, made me feel good. Cummins understands that not all people of devout faith are nutballs. "This brings us to the nub of the issue: the fact that Islam's teachings are completely unlike those of other faiths. The Government shows no sign of understanding this. Defending his proposed legislation, Mr Blunkett, for instance, said: "It applies equally to far-Right evangelical Christians as to extremists in the Islamic faith." But what "far-Right evangelical Christian" has ever proposed or endorsed anything as horrifying as what the moderate Muslim regards as normal?"
