Every team has these every year. I mean, a booster having contact with a recruit? Who cares? Now, if he is slipping him some cash, that is a little different.

If your team has just gone through a long and painful probation period (read Alabama), you wouldn't want ANYTHING like this to come out. Like I said, very minor violations...but if I were a fan...I would be pissed at these boosters. Most Bama fans that I know already think the NZAA is out to get them. And what's the difference in slipping him some cash, and paying for transportation for his family to the campus for his visit? Each one has cash flowing from the boosters hand for the benefit of the recruit.

Oh, I agree with you. You wonder how dumb these boosters are. Just let the staff do their job and get out of the way. If they really want to help out, mail a check and that is it.

Any representative of LSU athletics, and this means you if you are a member of an LSU fan group like TigerForums, needs to know the booster rules on the LSU office of compliance website. If you know any prospective student athlete you must be very careful not to break an NCAA rule. And some of them may surprise you.

The FAQ brochure tells you most of it.

Do you mean that since I am a member of Tigerforums.com, that LSU could get busted if I go up to a local high school player who LSU is currently courting, and slip him a wad of money and simply say "Geaux Tigers!!!! See you at LSU, I hope."  ;) :geauxtige

Maybe I might ought to add that I'm just kidding around.......

i understand inadvertent contact being a secondary violation and nothing happening especially if self reported.

    However.....

is a bit more disturbing. was the graduate asst. one in the athletics dept? if so, they really should have known better!

Brother, you can't even offer him a ride to a game that he bought his own ticket for.

Anyway LSU could make a case that you are a sleeper cell from Ole Myth, rather than a proper TigerFan.

This is unacceptable. Bama should be suspended for 5 years. End of conversation.

...sorry, I'm not a big fan of the pachyderms.
