1. I've been hearing alot of talk around here about the new coach for Ole Myth and how he is goin to make an "immediate" impact on their overall record. They are calling ED O. "BIG O" :dis:

People ( at work, around town ) are saying stuff like, " LSU and Ole Miss are on an even playing field now"
and " Ole Miss is goin to get the good recruits in Miss now and some of LSU's too."    And here is the all time best one I've heard, " With our blue chip recruits this year, Ole Myth is very likey to win the SEC west and possibly the SEC, LSu is our only REAL obstacle and we can get by them." :dis: :dis: :dis: :nope: :nope: :nope: :nope:

I hear all this jabber wocky and it's the same Bs they said last year, year before etc. etc..

But I just wonder how they figure 2 months of chest beating is goin to make up for 3-4 years of average recruiting? Sure Ole Mtyh is starting to snag a few players, they always have, but it's VERY FEW and it's usually the "hopefuls" they grab and talk up. AND sometimes these make great players, you never know right?

But why is it they have all these illusions of IMMEDIATE Granduer? I can see being enthusuastic about doing "better" A winning season perhaps, nothing wrong with supporting your team, BUT for crying out loud you'd think Bear Bryant or Johnny Vaught just came back from the dead to coach these morons. :dis:

I had to remind a co-worker who is an Ole Myth faithful that 2 months of chest beating and one year of decent recruiting doesn't pull an SEC team up out of the Mire in the SEC. It takes a tad bit more than that. :dis:

I guess if you have to outright lie to each other to get "up" for your team and it's chances then so be it, I am just thankful we don't have to go there.

    :eek:lefire: :eek:lefire: :eek:lefire: :eek:lefire: :eek:lefire: :eek:lefire: :nope: :nope: :nope: :nope: :nope:

    :geaux: :helmet: :crystal: :geauxtigs
  2. Well it looks like Ole Miss might be snagging our recruit Powe, but he's going JUCO so that doesn't mean to much right now.

Other than that, I think we all agree that Ole Miss always has & always will have a false image of themselves in a much better light than they really are.
  3. Do I think Ole Miss will win the West next year? Not a chance

Do I think they could move into a contenders role in the next 2 years? I do...

Ed O has gotten some solid contacts within the New Orleans/Louisiana area and he is coming from an Elite program that knew how to get it done.

It wouldn't shock me to see them actually dip into Louisiana and nag some people
  4. Anybody in Tennessee hearing similar delusional ramblings from the Vanderbilt people?

I'm sure Ole Miss will improve...heck, they might even pick up 7 wins one of these days!
  5. I think two years is stretching it a tad, it's still :eek:lefire: remember?
  6. Ok, 9 years then
  7. Like Trev Alberts said.........."Ole Miss will always will be the RUNTS of the SEC West"
  8. With Bama coming back, Mississippi St on the way up, Arkansas always decent, Auburn winning a BCS game, LSU with a national championship - if Ole Miss becomes a good team, SEC West will have a solid argument for toughest division in college football.
    BIG XII South MY A$$!
  9. It never ceases to amaze me how people think that coaching alone can compensate for less talent and/or the lack of depth on a team.

Ole Miss and South Carolina have not had a tradition of winning even their own divisions, yet alone an SEC Championship. They may have new coaches, but they are simply not loaded with talent.

Florida is another example of putting totally unrealistic expectations on a new coach the minute he was hired. Florida has many problems, especially on defense, that will take Meyer, at the very least, a solid year to iron out.

    And.....
Signing day next week will separate the men from the boys!
  10. He has not gotten a player out of La that LSU wanted and he has really tried. If LSU wanted one of his La committments, a phone call and they would be LSU bound. He got one player, Oher, LSU would have taken and he was locked up by Old Missy because he lived with Sean Touhy. He will be a footnote in a couple of years.
