I was just saying that you don't see Northern Louisiana being featured as one of the most glamorous places to visit in travel guides, while you see plenty of hype for Southern Louisiana. I do think that downtown Natchitoches is pretty glamorous, and I do think Louisiana highways in Northern Louisiana are a much more beautiful drive that the Louisiana highways in Southern Louisiana. Besides, where is Huey Long from? Northern Louisiana. Where is Terry Bradshaw from? Northern Louisiana.

    Gross. Is that blue-green water?...
Ugh, and is that sand white?

    Fact. Both are correct observations.

    Love, your neighborhood Alabama beach-goer.

I've moved around a bit during my years. I've lived in Illinois, Conn., NY, Florida, Italy, Louisiana, and South Carolina. Have visited plenty of other places and countries. I can honestly say that the only place that I have truly preferred (to live) over Shreveport was Charleston, SC. Charleston is a GREAT place to live. I lived about 60 miles outside NYC and worked at West Point - beautiful scenery but I'll take Shreveport. Orlando had so much to do - but it was touristy, congested, and expensive - I'll take Shreveport. Baton Rouge is a great college town but take away LSU and the seat of government and you have a town probably less attractive than Shreveport. Chicago is a beautiful big city but the surrounding areas are a blight and I'm a small city guy - I'll take Shreveport. Living in Italy for 3 and a half years was an awesome experience - but when it's all said and done I'll take Shreveport. The grass sometimes looks greener on the other side and some places are great to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

Shreveport has a long way to go in attracting people to flock here but it's a nice place to call home. It's problems are many, it's politicians are usually inept, but things are looking up. If the Cyber Center lands at Barksdale and I49/I69 ever get built Shreveport/Bossier will be on the rise.

People love to make fun of the Indy Bowl, but year after year it has produced some really good games:

    2007 - 6 pt game
    2006 - 3 pt game
    2005 - 7 pt game
    2004 - 4 pt game
    2003 - 7 pt game
    2002 - 4 pt game
    2001 - 1 pt game
    2000 - 2 pt game
    1999 - 2 pt game

You have to go back a decade to find a game that was decided by more than 7 points.

You know, that was very well said. You really dont know how you view or miss something until you have had it or lived there and then left. I have lived abroad and never knew how much I enjoy door knobs till i got back. Works that way. Great post. :thumb:

Sometimes I wish Louisiana was only a high top. Or maybe just a regular sneaker.
