Hmm, seems to be a lot of lighter colors in states where weed is legal and legal medicinally, also ones with gay marriage. Odd....

I will look for the data, but I believe that the "republican" states have run better budgets from an article I read earlier this year.

Not that it really means anything.

let me make it a bit more personal

my grandfather, enlisted at 16 lied about his age, found himself on the beach during the invasion.
came back drove rigs around Louisiana delivering groceries the rest of his days
he had 6 sons and 1 daughter, he never had anything more than a 7 grade education.
his sons in the summer worked with him on that rig delivering groceries.
One day I asked my dad what made him go to college and not to the service or something else.
he said, the work he did with my grandfather was the hardest manual labor he would ever do.
still sticks with me till this day.

i dont think the south in general has an excuse, by now we should be out of this non educated rut.

that doesnt mean a thing because they balance the budget on the backs of education and innovation, which is part of the problem of having a less educated south.
Take Florida where i live the stupid governor, raised the standards so high for the state scholarship, he made UF go to an online degree system that wont be worth shit. Its like he is against education and more kids going to school.

Yea I edited my post right before this to reflect that it doesn't mean much of anything other than they aren't running a deficit.

Why do you think Online school is bad?

The elephant in the room is race. Southern states have the highest Black populations. Blacks have a significantly higher dropout rate. a+b=c. Southern Whites compare favorable to Whites in other regions of the country. What it all comes down to is that states in the South have to address the education concerns and conditions in the inner cities and Black rural areas. How do you get a Scotlandville or St. Helena up to the level of a Zachary or Central?

Many of us are, but we're fighting uphill against the "Idiocracy" effect. Those backwards dumsbhits (regardless of race) are severely outpacing the rest of us in terms of procreation. So, while educational and economic indicators have improved the past few decades, the overall quantitative impact is being reduced by the hordes of morons that keep producing more morons.
