IMO it's because he consistently goes forward rather than backward and he can catch and block. It appears that CLM is slowly bringing along his extremely talented youngsters with a little PT here and there which will pay large dividends down the road. Remember Alley's fumbleitis early in his career? These guys have to know a lot more than "see the hole, hit the hole". LSU/SEC football is far removed from high school. Patience should be exercised by fans who think every year should be a Trojan type of year. We have the talent but it needs to be developed. Patience, grasshopper. Your time will come.

No, he's not the most talented, but he's consistent. You know what you get with Hester, a football player. He does all the little things that go unnoticed, like blocking, not goin out of bounds to get extra yards. I think they (coaches) trust him more than the others and no other back has been consistent enough to take the featured roll. Hopefully one of them will in the UT game. At the same time, Miles is gonna have to play CS and KW with Alley in the UT game and go with the one that plays the best. Plus our o-line has to play better.

I think it is more of a reward thing. He does alot to help the football team that never show up in the box score. And he has for the most part done what was asked of him. He will never bust a long one though, or make some freakish move to juke the defense. But as far as going forward and ball protection he has been very consistent behind a horrible, (maybe the worst we've ever had) offensive line.

Most talented & the best are two different things. He's definitely not the most talented, but he's performing better than everyone else.

But for most of the early-going this season, he was the most dependible. No, he's not known as a "home run hitter" and might not break a 70+ yard TD run. But he can give you the 20+ yard ones and he's probably got the best hands catching the ball out of the backfield that we have.

Hester is the most consistent player we have on offense right now. He's not going to miss too many assignments, fumble or drop passes. He's not going to break any long runs, but we know he'll do the right things every play.

It's hard to play a frosh RB in big games early in the season (especially on the road) when you're not sure if they are going to go in the right direction, miss an assignment, or pick up the blitz on a pass play. You could play them just on running plays, but good defenses will pick up on that. And it would be hard to check off to a pass play with them in the backfield.

Our season is on the line against Tenn. We've played 8 games and these young guys should have a better handle on the offense. It would be nice if AB is ready to go 100% for an entire game, but if not, I think we need to see more of Scott and Williams. Hester can play FB like he did last year.
