I'm not racist. As I have said before, the company I now work for (after my NASA career) is owned by a black man you all would know. He is a great individual. But I think the radical blacks need to get over the chip on their shoulder where the confererate flag is concerned. There is a full month recognizing black history, another month for hispanic history so why in hell can't I display my confererate flag when I damn well want to. If that makes me a redneck so be it and screw all you culturaly correct people. And what's wrong with LSU displaying a gold and purple version of a confederate flag? Didn't your nickname of Tigers come from a confederate fighting unit?

The American flag has 13 stripes representing the original 13 states. Everyone of those 13 states had slavery so in essence those 13 stripes still recognize slavery too. Organizations like the NCAAP recognize this and would like to redesign the American flag. How is this going to sit with all of you who usually cow-tow to these organizations.

What all confererate flag bashers need to realize is.......the civil war was not originally about slavery at all. It only became an issue later in the war. The Civil War started over the issue of states rights as any knowledgeable historian knows.

Yes it will be and I think it should. It's not about panties being in a wad...it's about respect. And LSU is a state school that receives state money, and black peoples taxes end up there just as much as white peoples. People have the right to fly that flag any time on their own property, but LSU has the right to ban something that offends many students from being flown on campus.

What's truly sad is how closed minded and racist most of you still are.

Go as Jamarcus Russell if that flag offends him. Or Joe Addai, or Skyler Green, or Doucet, or Landry, or Carey, or Craig Davis, or Perilloux, or...

 

Umm, no they don't. As a public university, they can't piss on the Constitution. And to call anyone who supports the flying of that flag close-minded and racist is ignorant.

 

Here's my question ... can Blanco force LSU to ban it? If the answer is yes, then it'll be banned. I think she will not want anymore negative press about racial issues in this state. She'll cave in.

I assume she has that authority...
