reminds me of the chris rock bit about some woman being proud of the fact that she pays her bills.

It irritates me that the press is making this out to be him preaching to black fathers about responsibility to their children and to the black community. From what I've seen of the speech, he is preaching to fathers in general. Why are they turning this into a black white thing. It's almost like Red turning it into a republican/democrat thing. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

By the way, I think it was a very good speech.

That's the quote I had seen. Didn't see what came before it. I still don't think he was preaching to black fathers but to fathers in general, but every headline I see is "Obama takes black fathers to task." I still don't read that in his speech. I see him taking fathers to task.

first of all, he was speaking to a black congregation. second, when he said "stop feeding your kids Popeye's for breakfast" did you think he wasnt referencing the strongest black stereotype?

You know, he really didn't say anything different from Bill Cosby a few years ago, and 'Cos was painted as a sellout and an Uncle Tom and similar nonsense. Why is the same message brilliant (in the eyes of libs and the media) when Obama says it?

I'm officially out of this conversation. It's going nowhere good....and fast. My only point is that the comment should have been made to men in general not to men of a certain race.
