Here's why, in black and white, LSU fans should be pumped and very excited about a probable national title run in 2007--LSU's near-total domination in Tiger Stadium. As an FYI, I've broken it down by year below (Az State in 2005 not counted as it was not, of course, a true home game): Adding in the win over Arky to close out 1999 and, even going back into the (ugh) DiNardo era gives you a near-91% win rate over the past 50 home games. In short, if you could take away the Katrina-influenced, once in a lifetime-type comeback loss to Tenn (in OT) and LSU hasn't truly "lost" a game at home since Fla in 2003. Impressive...and much needed w/ Fla, Auby, S Carolina all coming to BR this fall. :crystal:
i think you should throw out all rentawins then compare home to road. actually, you should probably throw out the bottom half the sec too, and just go back to when lsu woke up (02 i guess).
Great post, we def perform much much better at home as noted, but oddly enough we do have some very very ugly home losses too. Ones where we come out absolutely flat. Think the UAB loss, 02 Bama 31-0, 03 UF 19-7 (no offensive TD's), and the Tenn loss. We haven't lost much but man they sure do stand out although i have almost supressed all the memories i have of them.
i gave it a shot. this is w-l record broken down home and away against just good teams (my determination). you could argue a game or two. 06 2-2 a; 2-0 h (uk, bama) 05 3-0 a; 2-1h 04 1-2 a; 2-0h 03 1-0a; 2-1h 02 1-3a; 0-1h 8-7a; 8-3h .533 vs .727 thats a fair home field advantage, but to really know youd have to compare it to home field advantages of other teams. say, tenn, uf, au and uga. maybe ill do it later.
The Tennessee game happened right after the Hurricanes on a moved Monday night game and it was a one-point loss, in overtime, to a team ranked in the top-10 at the time. That's not what I call an ugly loss. It was a damn close thing under extrordinary circumstances.
It ended up being a close loss, but it was still ugly in the sense that it was the biggest blown lead ever in Tiger Stadium and it definitely was painful to watch.
