Peterman, Clayton, Lavalais, and Webster seem to be consensus All-SEC players. Who else will step up this season and take All-Conference honors? I'm thinking maybe OT Andrew Whitworth on offense and DE Marcus Spears on defense.
I will go with Vaughn and Hill on defense. I think Vaughn will have an all SEC year. On offense I go with Addai and Whitworth. I saw Addai on campus just the other day and he looked ripped.
I don't know about all-conference honors, but these are the guys I expect to step up this year to show that they've got game: On offense, Addai is not established yet, but I think he will be the best back we've had in BR in a long time. On defense, Eric Alexander really impressed me on his penetration abilities in the spring game, and I think he'll quickly become a leader on D. Kyle Williams will emerge as a solid defensive lineman and get some good penetration as well. I think the D will be more solid than we give them credit for. Saban has been working hard to improve the defense. Look out Aubie!
Def. Joseph Addai.....his play in the spring game was UNbelievable. Breaking tacklles and juking(sp?) people out of their shoes. Look for him to break 1000 yard on the season with roughly 14td's.
Matt Mauck! I dont think he has had his "breakout" yet. His game against Florida didnt count. Other than Mauck, I think the offensive breakout players will be Devery Henderson, Joseph Addai, and practically all of the offensive line. I also expect to see Craig Davis get some PT if he is not redshirted. Id REALLY like to see Eric Edwards get 3-4 receptions a game, a la Robert Royal. On defense, I think the DL will be good, but Im starting to think they will never be as good as we hoped when "Thunder and Lightning" first made their debuts. However, I fully expect Lavalais to be the clear leader of the group. In the secondary, I look for Travis Daniels and Jack Hunt to surprise some people. They both seem to leave it all on the field, and I think their hard work will pay off this year.
January 5, 2004 NEW ORLEANS, LA -- Although not putting up impressive stats, LSU quarterback Matt Mauck continued last night to do what he has done all year -- lead his team to victory in the Nokia Sugar Bowl. Mauck, a second team All SEC pick, directed a late fourth quarter touchdown drive which sealed the victory for his Tigers (14-0) over favored Oklahoma (13-1), 27-17, in front of a partisan LSU crowd in the Louisiana Superdome. Sophmore phenom Joseph Addai added to his impressive season with touchdown runs of 22 and 12 yards. Addai, runner up to Heisman Trophy winner Roy Williams, finished the night with 97 hard-fought yards against the vaunted Oklahoma defense. The LSU defense held its sixth straight opponent under 20 points. Linebacker Cameron Vaughn led the Tigers' defense with 13 tackes, four for a loss. Does that answer your question, red?
Just give Addai the 100 yds I like that look into the future, SoLA, but just give Addai his 100 yds. While we're at the "what if" game, how bout if LSU defeats V. Tech in the Sugar Bowl and gets the rematch next year in Tiger Stadium? Regardless, that game will be fun, especially with 'lil Vick around. I hope Vaughn (or another LB) steps up big time because we're going to need some bigtime play at that position. Would Craig Davis be the leader to get playing time out of the 3 true freshmen stud WR's? I know all 3 have size and apparently speed too.
