I think you got to go with the hot hand/arm of Mestepay. Anybody remember how many left handed hitters Miami has?
After the performances by Mestepey and Bumstead this weekend it makes the call pretty easy for us fans. Dirks hasn't been great facing big teams in starts, and Meier has been rather inconsistant. Mestepey has looked great his last 3 starts!
Was that a case of nerves for Bumstead againt ATM? If so, then maybe he shouldn't start game 1. Might do well in game 2 for LSU. Would anybody go so far as to say this is the old Lane Mestepay we are seeing now? Or is he a totally different kind of pitcher now?
Bumstead had his worse outing of the year Saturday but that happens to every pitcher sooner or later. If it was me making the call I would go with Mestepey but I'll bet you that Smoke goes with Bumstead for game one.
I don't think it was nerves, he's pitched in the Supers and CWS before, just a bad outing. He'll be fine, and I'm sure Smoke isn't going to base his decision off of this weekend alone.
Well except for the wildness, I thought Bumstead had really good stuff. They really didn't hit any ball hard against him.
Realize that with the brackets set up like they are, we could easily be looking at 4 SEC teams in the winner's bracket. It is not too far fetched.
