Not to beat the Noter Dame being over rated horse but in the article Dennis Dodd ranks them 22nd.

    Ok...whatever.

But then he goes on to predict them to go 8-4 or 7-5. I don't get it? If you think a team will lose 5 games why put them in your top 25?

Definitely like winning the SEC but even though we lost to Auburn.....would you say our season wasn't a successful one? Even with the loss to AU, had we beat Florida we may have played for a NC and that's the pot of gold.

SEC titles are great but I'd obviously prefer a NC and it could have happened even with the AU loss. To me it's like District Champs vs. State Champs in High School.

Easy: it's Notre Dame! Didn't you know that, just like with the BCS, Notre Dame is guaranteed a spot in the top 25, provided they have a winning record? Beyond that, if they have a losing record, the games they lost are looked at to weigh the level of competition, margin of loss, penalties against Notre Dame, unfairness of the opposing team being better (which could be lumped in with level of competition), any injuries to the team, and finally television ratings for the game. All of those factors are combined to come up with a percentage and based on that percentage, a top 25 ranking will usually come out of it. You'll have to ask the experts on the calculations, however. I believe the commission is led by Lou Holtz.

I agree with you- it is a big game. Always a good chance the winner of that game plays in the SECCG - funny thing is that neither LSU nor Auburn played in the SECCG last year.

The original comparison was to that of USC and UCLA.

In no way is Auburn-LSU the same. A better comparison would be LSU-Tulane. Where Tulane could go 3-9, beat LSU and consider it a successful season. I doubt Auburn would be happy if they were 3-9 just because one of those wins happened to be LSU.

    That's funny! :thumb:

I wonder how many people realize that the team who represented the West in the SECCG finished 10-4 while we finished 11-2.
