One play tells it all. With LSU backed up in the shadow of it's own goal post, Les Miles decided to be ultra conservative and run the ball on 3rd and long, opting to use his weapon Brad Wing to try to push Alabama back as far as possible late in the game. On the other hand, genius Nick Saban puts in a hobbling Marquis Maze to return the punt. Brad Wing booms the living phuck out of the ball and Maze's gimpy ankle doesn't allow him to back up fast enough to field it. 72 yard net punt. The game is saved. LSU wins in overtime. Nick Saban, contrary to popular belief, is not a God.
They both made their mistakes in this game. Last year Miles had the advantage. I dont think there is a clear answer. I do think the play calling was horrendous on our side.
I can answer this with no problem at all. CLM's may not be the best coach but he has something on his side Saban doesn't. That is called LUCK. I can give you plenty of examples if you want me too but you guys should already know, Our loses to Arkansas and Iowa at the last minute, then tonight for starters. Both coaches did make mistakes and so did the players. One thing is for sure though, CLM's has indeed kept the program strong CNS started, he has actually stepped it up a notch in my estimation but just maybe the Chief should get some credit also? Edit: I should say in football, you make your own luck!
I disagree. I think Miles out-coached Saban (again). But that is just my opinion. But I do agree that the play-calling could have been a little better.
The defense for this tiger team in overtime was the true heros of this game. That defensive stand in overtime will go down in history as the greatest defensive stand in the history of lsu. Thanks team for the greatest defensive stand in the history of lsu football. All hail tiger defense. The tiger nation is proud of you.
Saban took it into overtime without using timeouts. We had him on his heels. We banged up some bama phuckers too.
