Is it important for LSU to get the ball first and put Alabama in a hole early, or is it more important for LSU's defense to set the tone of the game early? What do you think?

Is the LSU special teams brave enough to kick to Arenas? I wouldn't advise it.

    The real question is:

Is Arenas brave enough to run AT the LSU kickoff coverage?

The game is 60 minutes. LSU could drive down & score on the first posession or Alabama could - neither will set the tone. Both teams have the ability to get right back into the game.

When i say set the tone, i meant like a big turn over or a pick 6, quite the crowd that kind of thing.

I don't think he's had a fair catch this season. There have been a couple of teams who i'm sure wished they hadn't kicked to him.

When it comes to kickoff coverage, there really isn't a lot of difference between the two teams. Arenas has been averaging around 20-25 yards a return with Bama usually starting around the 25-30 yard line. There isn't a great deal of difference between all the teams in the SEC. Well, one exception, UK has had a lot of touch backs this year.

Punting coverage is where the story is with Arenas. When you compare those two things Alabama is averaging almost 3X as many yards as LSU.

I know the numbers have changed a little, but I recall seeing a stat on LF this weekend about the team that scores first in the SEC has won like 23 out of 30 games. Of course, those numbers have changed a bit since this weekend, but not much. UGA did it, UT did as...didn't MSU score first against UK?

The chances of LSU or Bama winning after scoring first are still . . . fifty-fifty.

Scoring last is what I'm interested in. LSU is definitely a second half team this year, very strong in the 4th quarter.
