Why has nobody brought up Jeff Tedford yet? Seems like he'd be a logical choice. He has built the Cal program into a power and his high octane offense would be a good fit in Gainesville. I know he has NFL aspirations, and UF would be a step up from Cal, but that may deter Foley from approaching him.

Cal is a sweet job. Great weather, plenty of talent in California, and realistic expectations. You have to win, but 8-3 is okay. The fact that he built Cal into a power is a logical reason to stay there. With UCLA down, there's room in California for Cal and you could make it to the bcs title game in the pac ten easier than the SEC. Plus, the expectations are realistic and the media have other fish to fry. Cal can be like Michigan with the right person there.

I don't think they would have announced the firing until the end of the season if they didn't have someone already to replace him with. Wouldn't surprise me to see them announce it in the next day or so.

They sure wouldn't announce it the same day they fire Zook.

I completely agree, "the fix" is in in Gainsville. The reason I believe this is because the Gators have a winning record @ 4-3. Why would you fire your coach at this point in the season if you still have a chance to finish the season with a winning record and possibly make it to a bowl ? I agree with Peabody that a school wouldn't make such a move unless they had someone waiting in the wings ... enter SOS, heeeeee's back ! Book it Danno !
