Do you think we'll lose because of Saban leaving? I know Whitworth had been considering staying for his senior year.. any chance of that still happening? Anyone else?

I'm just trying to get a full picture of the damage... :bncry:

There wasn't a single junior on this team that played well enough to warrant leaving early. That doesn't mean that someone could be foolish (see Mauck) and still leave early, however.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Whit go pro. He didn't have an incredible year but I'm still pretty sure he'd go fairly high (3rd rd or better). May decide it's not worth it to stick around for the transition. Niswanger is another one who was debating coming back or not. Perhaps this might push him towards med school instead?

Pretty brash to just say that all juniors pretty sucked so bad this year that they would be idiots to even consider coming out.

We all knew at the time Mauck was projected as the #2/#3 QB coming into this year's draft (versus #13 in 2003). Why he decided to get drafted in the 7th round and barely make an NFL squad is beyond me.

And of course we all know now that LSU more than likely goes undefeated this year with Mauck at the helm.

Why go 3rd when you can go 1st next year. Big difference in money. Astronomical, actually.

I didn't come anywhere close to saying that.

nah....I would have loved to see Mauck stay another year. It was a smart move

The 26 year old WOULD NOT have been drafted any higher the following year ...

He's making over 300K a year on that practice squad. Another year or two on a roster and he's paid for dental school and his own office/practice....no loans.......

mauck in the 1st? he was lucky to be drafted and would have less leverage if he had returned. he did quite well for himself.
