OK...I have my opinion on this, lets see what you folks think. North Korea and their nukes, or Iran and their terrorist support.

I know they are both bad, but I think Bush will attack Iran in a heartbeat but never even think about strong-arming North Korea.

THE NUKES ARE THE BIGGER PROBLEM!

It's definately N. Korea's nukes because Kim Jong Il really has nothing to lose if he uses them. He is already economically and politically isolated from the rest of the world, with China their only major "ally" left, so if he decides to use his nukes the only thing he is fearful of is worldwide disapproval and almost instant war to get him out of power.

Iran however, while the terrorist problem is very bad I would much rather be left with Iran and it's terrorists than NK with's it's nukes. Now like FightinTIGER said, Nukes in the hands of the Iranian Mullahs is even worse than the nukes in the hands of Kim Jong Il.

I think an enemy that you can see and watch is one thing. But an enemy that is on your soil and will strike only to terrorise is very dangerous. Can you imagine not only the lives that we would loose but the economy that drives the world would shut down if terrorist would start bombing malls and dining facilities. :911:

I bet the end of this poll is 50 50

i think it is definitely iran because i dont foresee an actual nation-state using a nuke, especially against americans, because of mutually assured destruction, and generally what a huge terrible scary can of worms that is. if you unleash a nuke you are asking for trouble. and i mean the worst sort of trouble, worse than anything, and i mean literally anything.

but iran, i can see some terrorists training somehwere there and organizing and blowing up my local subway station. i realize nukes blow up entire cities and terrorists only blow up a couple blocks, but i just think it is really unlikely anyone blows up a nuke anywhere.

    Right now it is Iran.

North Korea doing anything would result in everyone coming down on them.

North Korea is the biggest threat to U.S. territory. The North Koreans have numerous submarines that could get close enough to the west coast, Alaska or Hawaii to inflict real pain.

Iran is more of a threat to Israel.

I said Iran because I agree with Martin that N Korea isn't stupid enough to bomb the USA for no real reason. If the world didn't have our back after that, then you say F CK 'EM! N Korea would be waking the beast much the same way the Japanese did. USA's Military forces would triple, a draft would be instated, and Bush would most likely have us everywhere in the world - much more so in the Middle East than currently. I just can't fathom North Korea nuking us... maybe it's just to cataclysmic for me to grasp and I'm in denial though.

North Korea is no real threat to the US Territory. Their so-called missles could not successfully reach the United States and though they possess the missle capability to do so....they also are quite poor in properly putting together their own equipment. They say they can reach us.....They will say anything to try and scare us.

I know all about NK submarines and they are without the hardest one to judge. Though I could see their submarines coming near our surface to attack....the possibility of that actually happening is slim to virtually none. I find it amusing that nearly all of the Navy's operations in North Korea are hell-bent on directly hurting South Korea. 60% of their operations are to forward bases.

Iran is much more of a threat with their current government being so lazy when it comes to terrorists. There own President says Al-Qaeda is a threat to them as well....I don't buy it. They have arrested several members and use that as a way to justify them fighting terrorism.

I would take the Iran threat much more then the NK threat.

    North Korea.

North Korea not only has nuclear weapons, they have a delivery system which Iran currently lacks. North Korea has tested missiles with enough range to hit American forces in South Korea, Japan, Okinawa and parts of Alaska. They are working on an ICBM, reportedly, that could hit California. Iran has no bombers or misiles with nuclear capability.

North Korea is run by a certifiable madman and meglomaniac with very little exposure to the outside world, growing up under his father who was almost as bad. This little bastard is capable of making some very bad decisions, several of which could trigger a war. Iran, I believe, is just posturing. They are not only concerned with us, but with Iraq and other Persian Gulf neighbors. They must contend with Israel and Pakistan who are nuclear armed. But the mullahs, although hostile, are neither stupid, nor crazy. The Iranian population is more restless than the subdued peasants of Kim Jung Il and there are many moderates. The mullahs have an internal policical sitation to consider, unlike North Korea's dictator.

Iran has never gotten along with Osama bin Ladin, their terrorist support has always been for Hezbollah, not Al Qaida. Hezbolla works almost exclusively in Lebanon and Israel. Iran is not likely to give anybody a nuclear weapon with their return address on it. They would absolutely lose a nuclear war with Israel who has 200+ nuclear weapons, an air force, and ballistic missiles, much less a nuclear war with the US who has 13,000 active weapons and another 17,000 in storage.

But that crazy little kook in North Korea has an impoverished country and one of the largest armies in the world poised to take over the riches of prosperous South Korea. We currently have less than a division on the ground and have been forced to withdraw it from the DMZ to a more defendable position hundreds of miles to the south. We now station an Aegis-class missile cruiser permanently in the Sea of Japan. Rumor is that it is equipped with anti-missile missiles that intercept a ballistic missile in the launch phase where it is easier to hit than in reentry. We have recently moved a Corps headquarters from the west coast to a forward base on Okinawa.

South Korea has a large army, but if they cannot stop a North Korean invasion, we may be forced to use tactical nuclear weapons ourselves to halt the invasion. It has been this threat that has kept the North at bay for 50 years. The danger is if Kim imagines that his possession of a nuke or two will keep the US from using our own nuclear arsenal against him. Clearly our military thinks war is a real possibility and are taking steps to be ready.

I think Iran is bluffing and posturing. I think North Korea is a big powder keg with a short fuse.

i dont really think anybody really ever develops nukes with the intent to use them (post ww2). they are basically defensive weapons. using them on someone else who has them is suicide. particularly the US, or another country with nukes on subs.

in college they taught us this whole MAD vs NUT theory. mutually assured destruction vs nuclear utilization theory. basically at the end of the day nobody will nuke the US because it is impossible to disable our nuclear power, because our subs are at secret locations all over the world, and could destroy everything.

so thats why i dont think n korea is the biggest threat, although i really have no idea, because it is possible that the kim jong il dude is more of a crazed maniac than anyone knows.
