Just curious to what everyone thinks. Could we have played with the 01 hurricanes or the 04 Trojans haha. What do you all think.
The LSU 2003 National Championship football team was the greatest team ever to put cleats on. We would have demolished every single national champion (okay maybe we tie the 1958 champions) before AND after. Go Tigers !
Hard to say how they would have faired against teams in other eras. Football is dynamic - always changing. When the Redskins won the Super Bowl with the mighty Hogs as an offensive line, the line weighed in at 264 lbs average. Today Div AA schools have 300+ lineman. Linebackers timed in the mid four seconds, DB's hitting harder then Butkus. No, the game has changed where players are better, stronger, faster, etc. The only fact I know is that in 2003 the Tigers were the best.:champs:
I think it ranks as a nice team that's on par with a ton of other nice teams that won it all in the past. I don't even know if it's the best LSU team ever, as there were some really talented Tiger teams that had an unlucky loss or two that were loaded in the past. BTW, I don't think the 1958 team was the greatest, not from an overall team talent and balance standpoint, at least.
behind the last two nat'l champs, and the miami champs... probably ahead of the OU team, the FSU team, the UT team, and about a tie with the OSU team... that's just the bcs winners I believe...
talent wise i think they rank up there pretty far. but bc of the loss i think unbiasly you have to put them behind all of the undefeated teams, unless of course they are in the pac 10, that doesnt really count as being undefeated, i think every team in the pac 10 should start off with a loss.
I don't know overall but that defense was the best college defense I have ever seen......no team....with any consistency, could have driven the ball on us 80 yards. Arkansas the last game of the regular season, ran pretty well on us early, but overall, I've never seen a D stop the run like we did. And the blitzes.......
